Is the fight coming to an end?
A referree in the person of Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III appears to have climbed up the ring to resolve the protracted word war between Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Congressman Prospero Nograles.
Efforts are reportedly underway to restore the political alliance of Davao City’s top political leaders, said the Mindanao Insider Daily.
And the reported broker is Bello III, a Davao City boy and friend to both Duterte and Nograles.
The task of Bello III in resolving the local conflict could be an easy ride having taken such gargantuan task before as chief of the Philippine panel in peace negotiations with the communist National Democratic Front.
Bello has admitted to the Insider who prompted him to broker the reconciliation between the two leaders who are both allies of President Arroyo.
It’s not important who approached me to cure the rift. It’s better left untold, Bello III told the Inisder.
“What is important is that the two officials should reconcile to they could do better things for Davao City,” said Bello III, whose son lawyer Karlo Bello sits as a councilor at the Davao City Council.
He described Duterte as the best mayor the city ever had and Nograles as the best congressman.
On Sunday, Duterte in his Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa television program on ABS/CBN, said he is momentarily holding his mouth and is putting off another round of verbal missiles against the congressman, because of a go-between who asked him to hold a temporary ceasefire.
Duterte had been using the television program the past weeks in lashing at Nograles.
