GMA gets support from Mindanao governors
Gov claims 90 % behind beleaguered president
Davao del Sur governor Douglas Cagas said about ninety percent of governors in Mindanao pledged their support for embattled Preisdent Arroyo during an meeting held in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.
The support comes in midst of massive public clamor for the president to step down over allegations First Husband and several Cabinit officials were linked to the aborted ZTE-NBN broadband deal with China.
The Cagayan de Oro City meeting was called by National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales, who is touring the country for a forum on peace and order. The governors agreed to assert their collective and individual authority ro resist the unconstitutional and illegal moves to oust or force the President to resign, said Cagas.
Another governor in the Davao region supported Cagas. Compostela Valley governor Arturo Uy said President Arroyo should be allowed to finish her term.
Cagas said the governors’ support for President Arroyo is sincere, dismissing talks of bribery or reward.
In Davao City, staunch Arroyo supporter Mayor Rodrigo Duterte appears to be wavering in his loyalty to the president. The truth should be out, he said as whistle-blower Jun Lozada testified in the Senate about the links of Arroyo officials and husband Mike Arroyo to bribery in the ZTE-NBN deal.
