MINDANAO’S TALLEST BUILDING TO RISE IN DAVAO CITY

Mindanao’s tallest building,  the 35-storey Aeon Towers—a 600-room luxury condominium-hotel-business skyscraper– is rising soon in Davao City. Construction starts next year, with completion set in early 2016.

Two other high-risers are also in the planning stage—-a 20-storey building in Ecoland in Matina Aplaya and a 12-storey building also in Bajada.
The new skyscrapers would dwarf present holders of the tall-building crowns—the 18-storey Marco Polo Hotel along C. M. Recto, the 17-storey Landco-PDCP Corporate Center in J. P. Laurel Avenue in Bajada and the 14-storey Pryce Tower also on J. P. Laurel Avenue.

  1. you forgot the under construction 26 storey alveo abreeza residences inside abreeza complex, the 12 storey kukun hotel and the 24 storey avida condo along claveria.

    • davao city is way ahead than cagayan de oro city in terms of economic activity and population wise, therefore investors choose to locate their investment in a secured and friendlly environment like davao city.

    • aeon tower of davao has a 2.5 billion budget @ 35 storey while limketkai hotel @ 36 storey has a budget of 750 million which is not possible.

  2. I doubt if it will be constructed. This proposed structure is within the Final Approach Surface of Davao Airport and CAAP has certain height limitations to structures within the vicinity of an airport. Usually nakakalusot lalo na pag may mga padrino. But come to think of it, during your flight, when you are about to land, pwedeng bumangga yung aircraft dito. Konting crosswind lang (hampas ng hangin from the sides) greatly increases the chance of collission, unknowingly for passengers. Lalo na sa Davao, na maraming antenna and tall buildings.

Frankly, this building would be awesome. But if the safety of flying public will be hampered, then we should think it over.

    • BUILDING A STRUCTURE LIKE AEON IS NOT LIKE BUILDING A BARONGBARONG WITH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED INCLUDING YOUR WORRY ABOUT A PLANE CRASHING ON THE TALL BUILDING. WHEN THE AEON TOWER WAS ANNOUNCED IN A MEDIA INTERVIEW (PRESS CONFERENCE?) THE ARCHITECT (OWNER?) WAS ASKED WHY THEY COULD NOT BUILD A TALLER BUILDING . HIS ANSWER WAS THAT THEY COULD NOT GO HIGHER THAN 32 (34?) UPON THE ADVISE OF AIRPORT AUTHORITIES PRECISELY TO AVOID AN INCIDENT (GOD FORBIDS) YOU FEAR COULD HAPPEN.
