Before, thieves were in the ‘hate list’ of criminally-bent species of Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who deserve ‘swift justice.’
Not now.
In the Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa television program on ABS/CBN, host lawyer Geraldine Tiu raised public complaint against thieves stealing regularly light bulbs installed in the pedestrian lane along South Diversion Road near Laverna Hills subdivision in Buhangin.
Just call me when the bulbs are stolen and I will have them replaced, he said.
Duterte said he is now having second thoughs about harsh treatment for thieves because “the Commission on Human Rights is watching.”
Duterte had probed by the rights body for his alleged tolerance of summary killings in the city.
But Duterte flared up when informed by Tiu about robbers breaking in homes clad only in briefs.
Police, said Tiu, could not also catch the robbers because they are slippery with oil rubbed over their bodies.
She also said the robbers feign insanity if arrested.
Duterte said he wanted to know the cops advancing the alibi the robbers could not be caught due to their oily bodies.
He said robbers acting like crazy is a big joke.
Bring them to me and they will be back to their senses after I give them five whacks to the head, he said.
